Kids Against Hunger Coalition – Action Projections for 2010
Over 30 years ago Richard Proudfit founded a nonprofit organization called Feed My Starving Children, presently DBA Kids Against Hunger International. The Founder of Kids Against Hunger International has successfully organized volunteer teams called satellites who have been responsible for packaging and delivering over 200 million meals to over 65 countries worldwide.
Dr. Donald E. Burwell, President/CEO of the K A H Coalition, started the Kids
Against Hunger Coalition of Michigan at the end of 1998. In 1999 Dr. Burwell started the first Michigan Satellite, the K A H Detroit Satellite which is now located in Oak Park Michigan, as a subsidiary of the KAH Coalition. The K A H Detroit Satellite partners with Kids Against Hunger International, through a signed Satellite Agreement, to feed starving children around the world and in our local communities. Dr. Burwell leads the activities associated with Kids Against Hunger programs in Michigan. Through his K A H Coalition mobile operations he oversees the volunteer packaging activities in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Winsor, Ontario Canada.
Presently there are three active Satellite Subsidiaries in Michigan: Detroit, Mt. Pleasant, and West Branch. These Satellite Subsidiaries expect to package in excess of two (2) million meals this year. For the State of Michigan, the K A H Coalition of Michigan projects an annual packaging output of more than seven (7) million meals by year end 2015. This food is presently sent to over 100 food pantries in Michigan, to over six Countries in Africa, over seven Countries in South America (including Haiti), and one Country in Central America. For additional information on where our food is shipped please see attachment "A" or visit our Web Site: kidsagainsthungercoalition.com . The Michigan Satellites mobilize civic, religious, educational, community organizations, foundations, and humanitarian organizations to help with fundraising, food packaging, and the delivery of K A H meals. Over 36,000 volunteers have assisted in this effort in the past 30 months.
